Who We Are

Hong Leong Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd (“HLISAM”), is an Islamic fund management company (IFMC) licensed by the Securities Commission Malaysia (“SC”) on 18 November 2019 for the regulated activity of Islamic fund management. HLISAM was formerly known as Hong Leong Fund Management Sdn Bhd, holding a conventional fund management license which was then converted to an Islamic license. HLISAM is wholly-owned by Hong Leong Asset Management (“HLAM”), an established fund management company with more than 20 years of experience offering and managing a broad spectrum of investment solutions through equities, fixed income, money market and mixed assets.
 
HLISAM and HLAM are both subsidiaries of Hong Leong Capital Berhad (“HLCB”), an investment holding company that is part of Hong Leong Financial Group (“HLFG”). HLFG is the parent company of HLCB, with its subsidiaries  also involved in insurance and commercial banking sector. HLISAM thrives on the business of providing Islamic investment solutions through portfolio management services for institutions and also high net worth individuals aside being appointed as the external fund manager for HLAM’s Islamic funds.

Our Group’s exposure into various sectors enables its subsidiaries to garner easier, faster, and more comprehensive access to information across all sectors. This plays a part in the fund management process to evaluate implications of these changes to investment outcomes.

Mr. Hoo See Kheng
(Non-Independent,
Non - Executive Director)
  • Mr Hoo See Kheng obtained a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Finance from University of New South Wales Australia and a post-graduate diploma in System Analysis and Design from Japan-Singapore Institute of Software Technology. Mr Hoo is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and a Certified Information System Auditors, United States of America. He obtained his Capital Markets Services Representative’s license from the Securities Commissions on 22 October 1998.
  • Mr Hoo joined HLAM on 1 March 2014. He was appointed as an Executive Director of HLAM on 27 March 2014 and subsequently on 12 May 2014, appointed as Chief Executive Officer. He was also appointed as an Investment Committee member with effect from 14 April 2014.
  • Mr Hoo has more than eighteen years of experience in the financial industry; mainly in areas of asset management and unit trust
Mr. Lye Thim Loong, CFP

 - Fund Management)
  • Mr. Lye Thim Loong, holds a diploma in Banking from the Institute Bank Malaysia.
  • Mr. Lye joined HLAM in May 2014 and was transferred to HLISAM on 1 October 2020. Prior to joining HLAM, he was the Deputy Chief Investment Officer as well as the Head of Alternative Investments in Libra Invest Berhad.
  • Mr. Lye has over 14 years of experience in fund management and also has over 15 years of global market treasury experience with various banks in Singapore and Malaysia.
  • He obtained his Capital Markets Services Representative’s License from the SC since 26 April 2004.

Pn. Noor Aini Shaik Awab
Chief Executive Officer
  • Puan Noor Aini Shaik Awab joined HLAM in April 2014 as the Chief Operations Officer and was promoted and transferred as the Chief Executive Officer of HLISAM on 1 November 2019.
  • She started her career with Schroders Investment Management (Singapore) Limited; and brings with her more than thirty (30) years of experience in fund management securities administration, unit trust operations, local and regional settlements.
  • In her career, Puan Aini had also spearheaded various implementation and integration of systems for the Investment and the Operations teams as part of IT business development projects.
  • She holds a Diploma in Business Administration and Diploma in National Computer Studies, Singapore.
  • She holds a Unit Trust Consultant license and is a certified Islamic Financial Planner.
Mr Ang Beng Kuan
Head, Fund Management
  • Mr. Ang Beng Kuan joined HLAM in February 2021 and was transferred to HLISAM on 1 September 2021 as Head of Fund Management.  
  • Mr Ang has more than 8 years’ experience in global treasury markets dealing with money markets, foreign exchange and derivatives.  He was a Fund Manager and Investment Strategist for an institutional buy-side investor managing close to RM 1 trillion in asset-under-management. 
  • He also spent over 4 years in capital markets driving private debts corporate structuring and, commercial real estate private debt funds and managing Emerging Markets public debt portfolio.
  • Mr Ang holds Bachelor of Science in Biohealth Sciences and Masters in Economics from University Malaya. He had completed the Leadership Development Program from National University of Singapore in 2018.
  • He holds a PKMC licensed holder and had also obtained his Capital Markets Services Representative’s License from the SC since 7th May 2021.
 
Puan Rozy Hashim
Head, Compliance
  • Puan Rozy Hashim is the registered Compliance Officer for HLAM/HLISAM and is responsible for all compliance matters for the company.
  • She has more than 20 years of working experience in the areas of IT,auditing and compliance in financial and  capital market industry.
  • She holds a Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) from York University, Toronto, Canada.
  • She joined HLAM in November 2013.
